IT’S TIME TO FLIRT WITH A MAN IN A KILT
Cassie Crow, a pop-culture reporter for a TV talk show, is focused on becoming a “serious” journalist. But when she stumbles into a kilted Highlander with a killer accent, Cassie decides that taking one night off from work and spending it with a sexy Scot couldn’t hurt. . .
Logan Reid has built a career on his charm, hosting a series of off-the-wall hijinks on the Web. But when the Scottish prankster meets the all-American, equal parts intelligent and irresistible Cassie, Logan realizes that one night of fun won’t be enough. Could it be that this career-focused, commitment-phobic couple is finally ready to take a chance at true and lasting love?
I will admit that the draw for me with this book was the great title…and the idea of a hot redhead in a kilt! (Hello, Jamie Fraser fan here!) As everyone reading this blog knows, I love romantic suspense and my usual cover appetite involves hot guys with guns so this one is not one you would think I would pick. But the cute cover sucked me in along with the description, so I decided to give it a try!
Cassie Crow is on the trip of a lifetime to Europe with her best friends and along with the usual tourist activities, her goal is to have a vacation fling. Somehow she has made it through 4 different countries without finding the one until she runs into a hot Highlander inside Edinburgh Castle. While she at first wonders about his sanity, she decides to take the opportunity at hand and plants a hot kiss on him. Only after the kiss ends does she recognize that instead of a time-traveling Highlander, she has kissed a known internet prankster, Logan Reid. She also realizes that the entire meeting was a set up for one of his pranks and refuses to sign the release Logan and his sister Janet need to air the footage.
What she doesn’t know is that Logan is trying to land a new late-night talk show and he needs this footage to help him get the deal. He decides to do everything he can to change her mind and asks her to meet him for a drink that night with her friends. Cassie however is determined not to sign and after a loaded game of 20 Questions, decides to check off the one thing she has yet to accomplish on this trip. Their first encounter is scorching hot, and leaves them (and us!) wanting more! The rest of the book is a delightful romp through London and eventually Chicago, Cassie’s hometown and where the studios for Logan’s possible new show are located. This coincidence allows for more hot encounters and fun interactions between them and even some sadness because what is a romance without some heart stomping angst? (One of my favorite themes!)
While the story wasn’t perfect, the characters are fun and relatable, so I would definitely recommend this book for rom-com or contemporary romance fans. You will also get to meet the hero of the next book in the series Theo, and I’m looking forward to his match up with Cassie’s best friend Bonnie!!
Thank you to Netgalley and St. Martin’s Press for the chance to read the first 3 books early, keep an eye on this blog for those upcoming reviews!
